A star studded treat for the Telcare Team

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013

One of the advantages of having great relationships with our customers is that every now and again they like to say thank you and some do it in a big way; last night was one of those fantastic occasions.   We were given tickets to the official opening night of our customer’s latest production, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory.

The excitement began when the tickets arrived, which were in true Willy Wonka style, golden tickets.  Further elation brewed when we realised that the invitation extended to the after party.  As you can imagine this sparked major discussions as to outfits, hair and shoes, and that was just Jamie!

The Theatre Royal’s red carpet opened at 6.45pm and we were on track to make our grand entrance when Tina asked the question “You have got the tickets haven’t you?”  I smiled at her reassuringly and opened my bag in order to flash the hottest tickets in town.  What happened then became a blur, after emptying the entire contents of my bag it was obvious that I did not have the tickets!  A few choice words were uttered, a hot sweat ensued whilst I tried to work out the quickest route back to Kent to retrieve the missing tickets.  Fortunately it wasn’t necessary.  A quick call to the production team resulted in duplicate tickets being printed at the box office, phew!

So back to the red carpet which was hemmed with the paparazzi and by now filled with glamorous guests including a very sparkly Sarah Jessica Parker accompanied by hubby Matthew Broderick and son James.  Thank goodness for the camera feature on our mobile phones, they went into overdrive.

Our box gave us a perfect view to what proved to be a very entertaining show.  We were in awe of 12 year old Jack Costello, who played Charlie Bucket (and proud to hear he comes from Kent).  He gave a fabulous performance, it was clear he had thrown his ‘all’ into the part.  We were intrigued as to how the oompa-loopas would be portrayed but  won’t spoil it for you, suffice to say they don’t disappoint.  Willy Wonka, who you don’t get to see until the second half , is as you’d want him to be, ever so slightly mad with a dark sense of humour and utterly brilliant.  We think Sam Mendes has done a wonderful job in bringing this magical story to the stage, but then we might be slightly biased!

The after show party was a smorgasbord of celebrities, chocolate and champagne.  Chocolate fountains edged the dance floor so you were never far from your next sugar rush.  Waiters were milling among the guests with a never ending supply of donuts, cup cakes, champagne and the bucket family’s specialty, cabbage soup.  Party goers were all clutching pink candy striped bags full of pick and mix sweets another of the host’s generous offerings.  We had a slightly alarming moment when Sarah Jessica Parker squeezed by Jamie and knocked his closely guarded pick and mix bag, but luckily he didn’t lose a single black jack.

As the saying goes all good things have to come to an end and the time came to make our departure but not before Tina got a kiss, on both cheeks, from Hollyoaks actor,  Danny Mac.  She left vowing never to wash her face again as Bekki and I dragged her to the taxi.

It was an extraordinary evening and an amazing treat for the team, one that will not be forgotten in a hurry.  Many many thanks go to our extremely kind-hearted customers, we had a ball.

Kent B2B June 2013

Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

When I bumped into Hilary Steel yesterday at the Kent B2B I initially thought she had been glugging copious amounts of coffee but no the elated buzz was a result of meeting lots of like minded fabulous people.  That’s how the day started and it continued in the same vain.

The venue, The Ashford International Hotel was packed with exhibitors and visitors from across the county and beyond.  A networking breakfast kicked off the event, followed by Gerald Ratner, who delighted guests with a humorous presentation relating to his dramatic rise and fall in business, oh and rise again.  Workshops and a spot of speed networking kept everyone busy throughout the day along with another interesting speaker Sahar Hashemi, the founder of Coffee Rupublic.

We would like to thank everyone that stopped by the Telcare stand; we thoroughly enjoyed talking to you. It was a particular pleasure to meet up with Adrian Kearney of A K Pet Carriers, who we have communicated with via Twitter but had never met.  Thanks Adrian for taking the time to visit us, keep up the wonderful work with animals.

It was refreshing to find so many receptive and intriguing people at the event, we left feeling educated, entertained and hopeful of new collaborations.  Congratulations go to Kent Invicta Chamber for organising another successful event.

Chris Pullman from Buckmore Park (seen here) was the winner of our champagne, cheers to you Chris hope you enjoy the bubbly.

Despite the tired feet, we managed to find our way to the bar and finished the day with a well earned drink and a final networking fling.

Half Way There

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

The first part of the year has raced by and here we are finding ourselves in June again.  Thankfully it’s sunny.

The last few months have been hugely exciting. I turned 50 and went all out with the celebrations which I have to say are still ongoing. The highlight had to be the trip to St.Lucia, which was perfect in every way. Many thanks to everyone for their wishes; I really have been overwhelmed and grateful for all the kind words, cards, presents and even flowers.

We had another reason to celebrate here in the office as Tina tied the knot on the 23rd May.  She looked absolutely gorgeous and glowing with joy as she walked back down the aisle, a pleasure to see. We wish her and Gavin many congratulations and much happiness.

Victoria and Nick hosted our usual stand at the South East Business Show on the 17th May. They reported a positive event with some encouraging new connections. It’s always very interesting meeting up with both the visitors and the exhibitors.

We are exhibiting again at the Kent Invicta Chamber event, the Kent B2B 2013. The date is Tuesday 11th June and the venue is the Ashford International Hotel, Ashford.  If you are considering visiting the show we would very much like the opportunity to meet you. The event is a great way to make new connections and learn about each other’s businesses. There will be lots going on including speakers Gerald Ratner & Sahar Hashemi (Founder of Coffee Republic).  We will be on stand 47 looking forward to giving you a warm welcome.
