Telcare sponsor the Kent Independent Trader Awards

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

Bar 10 in the Royal Star Arcade, Maidstone was the venue for the 2013 Kent Independent Trader Awards last Thursday.

Telcare had been invited to sponsor a category and given our passion for great service, we jumped at the chance to sponsor the customer service award. Sponsorship included being a judge which really was a hard task considering that all entries deserved an award in our book, but there could only be one winner so eventually the decision was made and we had to keep ‘mum’ until the night.

There were 11 categories in all, recognising start-up companies, best restaurant, best creative company, best retailer and so on. As an independent trader we know just how much hard work and effort goes into ‘getting it right’ so we truly resonated with the big smiles of joy and wobbly voices when traders went up to collect their awards. The majority of winners attributed part of their success to the support of others, highlighting the importance of having a strong network as a good foundation for business.

Talking of support networks, Adrian Kearney from A K Pet Carriers is very much part of the Telcare network, so it was a pleasure to see him reach the finals of the Start-up category. He is seen here proudly showing off his certificate just before he raced off to the aid of an injured dog.

It wasn’t just about the awards, as well as the networking with these fantastic traders, we were treated to some entertainment by the lovely Kyla Wight who gave us a fabulous rendition of Edith Piaf’s Non, Je ne regrette rien; and then an inspiring message from 'Do It or Ditch It' author Bev James. Bev was kind enough to provide us with free copies of her 40 Power Questions booklet; that really has got us thinking, thanks Bev.

One of the highlights of the evening was when organiser Hilary Steel announced that some of the proceeds of the raffle would be going to our chosen charity JDRF who specialise in research for type 1 diabetes. We were totally taken by surprise as we really had no idea, so HUGE thanks to the organisers; the kind gesture has been very much appreciated.

Many congratulations go to all the finalists and winners, keep up the good work. You can see who they are right here
